Mission/Purpose of the job

 

  • The Supplier Manager for Transport Logistics is tasked with overseeing, enhancing, and supporting transport service providers to ensure efficient and high-performance logistics operations throughout UD Trucks.
  • This role ensures transport suppliers deliver timely, quality shipments in compliance with UDT Requirements.
  • The SM will manage logistics crises, supplier onboarding, compliance, and performance improvements to ensure a reliable and sustainable supply chain.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Supplier Development & Support:

  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with transport suppliers.
  • Assess supplier operations including shipping processes, capacity, subcontractors, and 2nd-tier networks.
  • Plan and coordinate supplier training to align with performance and compliance standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and Lean logistics within the supplier base.

 

Performance Management:

  • Define, monitor, and act on transport-related KPIs. (e.g., dispatch precision, lead times, service level).
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions in case of performance deviations.
  • Conduct logistics audits and ensure timely updates and improvements to action plans.

 

Operational Excellence & Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including transport operations, PU,LD, plant operations, and service parts.
  • Lead Crisis meetings and logistics planning meetings.

Participate in internal and external cross-functional meetings (BRM, OPR, crisis calls).

 

New Supplier Introduction:

  • Support new supplier integration into the transport logistics network.
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with dispatch, and logistics communication standards.
  • Guide suppliers through evaluation stages and global sourcing process milestones

 

Crisis Management & Escalation:

  • Act as the first point of escalation in cases of delivery failure or capacity shortage.
  • Coordinate emergency routines and collaborate with Purchasing and Transport teams to resolve severe shortages.
  • Produce and maintain crisis meeting documentation and recovery plans.
