Job Overview
UD Trucks is known for our pioneering technologies and products within the commercial automotive industry. The Operations Safety Lead will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing Operations safety programs. He/She will ensure that the organization complies with all Safety regulatory requirements and provide guidance on safety issues.
Job Objectives
Formulation and implementation of safety management plans:
o Good knowledge in OHS act
o Formulate and implement safety management plans for the factory. This includes risk assessment and planning safety measures.
o Implement Safety PIP activities
o Prioritize all safety investments
o Drive Safety Steering Committee (Ops) to run PDCA improvement cycle
o Provide support to site and departmental safety committees to ensure effective communication and implementation of safety policies.
o Collaborate with other departments, such and HR, Operations and Maintenance, to integrate safety into operational workflows.
Prevention of occupational accidents:
Take measures to prevent occupational accidents. For example,
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections and provide recommendations for improvement.
Collaborate with management to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards in the workplace.
Lead Risk assessment Implementation (Ops)
Implement Safety Kaizens
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety processes and initiatives.
Communicate Safety initiatives, updates, and expectations to employees, contractors, and visitors.
Implementation of safety education and training:
Provide safety education to employees to raise their safety awareness with assistance from HR. This includes training for new employees and regular safety training.
Drive safety awareness daily
Create training programs for employees on safe work practices, hazardous materials handling, and emergency response procedures.
Ensure that all employees understand and adhere to Safety standards, policies and procedures.
Promote culture of safety excellence throughout the operations organization.
Accident response:
In the event of an accident, we respond quickly and appropriately and take measures to prevent a recurrence. For example,
Investigate accidents and incidents and provide recommendations to prevent their reoccurrence.
Drive closure Gemba action
Ensure Safety EWO / Safety Card action closure
Lead investigations at workplace accidents, incidents and near missed to determine the root causes.
Coordinate with emergency response teams to ensure timely and effective responses to incidents.
• Compliance with laws and regulations:
o In the event of an accident, we respond quickly and appropriately and take measures to prevent a recurrence. For example,
Aid in develop and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and operational programs to comply with applicable OHS regulations and standards.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies and ensure all permits, licenses (e.g. forklift ,Truckee, code 14) and other safety requirements are up to date.
Qualifications
• Diploma in Safety Management, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or in Safety Operations i.e. SAMTRAC.
• Degree with be an advantage
Job Experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
• Experience in QHS Act.
• Experience in lean implementation in Manufacturing/Automotive.
• Experience in the automotive sector an added advantage.
