Title: YC: Legal Assistant
UD Trucks is known for pioneering technologies and products within the commercial automotive industry. We are seeking a dynamic Legal Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for a candidate who has already been admitted as an attorney and is looking to apply their legal expertise in a supportive, administrative, and client-focused environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support labour and employment law matters, including:
- Drafting charge sheets and notices;
- Assisting with disciplinary processes and investigations;
- Compiling evidence bundles and preparing documentation for hearings;
- Supporting CCMA and internal disciplinary proceedings;
- Liaising with HR and external labour attorneys;
- Assist with litigation management, including:
- Preparing briefs to external counsel;
- Coordinating with attorneys and tracking case progress;
- Attending consultations and court/CCMA proceedings where appropriate;
- Maintain legal and contract records, including:
- Filing and document management;
- Tracking contractual obligations and key dates;
- Providing administrative and company secretarial support where required.
- Conduct legal research and draft internal legal opinions, particularly in relation to labour and commercial matters;
- Assist with the drafting and review of commercial agreements and related documentation;
- Support the preparation and delivery of compliance and policy training to internal stakeholders;
Minimum qualifications:
- LL.B degree (completed or in final year);
- Admitted attorney, particularly with exposure to labour law;
- Demonstrated interest or experience in labour/employment law and dispute resolution;
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities;
- High attention to detail and accuracy;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel);
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
