Title:  Front Office Engineer - Thailand

Front Office and Application Engineering (FO&AE) is a function within Vehicle Engineering in UD Trucks Technology and locally represented in Bangalore, South Africa, Dubai & Bangkok Plant. Its primary mission is from a Product development perspective to support in further developing business profitability by offering low volumes & niche solution-based products for the UD Trucks international markets.

The approach in this team being lean way of working , close connections to customers & operations, an agile development philosophy , short time to market and reduced development costs.

This department also supports UDTO through front office support in the plant and coordinates for engineering support to Customer adaptations and Aftermaket modifications.

Role:

The Front Office Enginner is located in Bangkok ,Thailand and reports to the Manager of FO &AE but functionally reprorts to the team leader in Bangkok. He or she is accountable from a Product development perspective to support the Sales team, assembly operations in the Assembly plant and Field Quality team for issues in the field and coordinating all needed actions to achieve right product quality.

The role is also responsible to support in Body builder adaptations, support and training, Customer adaptations and niche applications by engaging with key partners and stakeholders on need basis.

Responsibilities:

As a Front Office Engineer

• First point of contact for all UDTO issues in the production line connected to PD and act as facilitator between PD and UDTO.
• Regular participant in audit meetings, prime meetings and other meetings with UDTO.
• Review deviations from PD, Supplier, and manufacturing and give approval on deviations with support from engineering.
• Propose alternate containment solution in case of issue and make efforts for smooth production.
• Handle FDERs and coordinate with design engineers for its management. Help UDTO to raise PIL in case of design issue and further coordination.
• Responsible for Sign off for Project builds in factory.
• Communication for different changes coming through intro blocks.
• Pilot the KPIs connected to front office activities
• Deployment of solutions to field quality issues and internal campaign support.
• To support PD for local GEMBA for Product Quality issues and faster resolution and implementation.
• To support UDTO and lead activities for production quality improvement from PD perspective.
• To support other technology related activities at site like verification and validations, competition benchmarking etc.
• Work closely with supplier for component/ electrical solutions development.
• Engineering documentation of drawings and specifications.
• Debug SW issues in the plant/ field and support with the RCA and work with the engineering team to detail a robust solution.

Authorities :

• Approve short term solution in the plant and FDERs for deviations.
• Attend QRQE forums and reprensent VE.
• Present the the top issues to the management  in the Production Qaulity Pulse .
• Attend PRIME meetings and have a handshake with manufacuturing on product issues.

Essential skills and needed experience  
 

• Degree in Electrical  /Mechanical Engineering  with minimum 5 years of automobile experience
• Overall knowledge of truck electronic architecture.

• Good Knowledge on Software ,  Diagnostic trouble codes etc .
• Extensive product knowledge of Quester & Croner ranges, market knowledge with good understanding of customer applications and its unique requirements.
• Very good knowledge of complete process from design to manufacturing with all concerned stakeholders processes. Good knowledge of UDTO requirements from PD and ability to operate in plant environment.
• Knowledge of Customer Adaptation and associated processes.
• Solid & vast experience in application engineering from a truck domain perspective and proven experience of working with body builders (partners).

• The Position is based in Bangkok and the person is expected to know Thai and English.
