Title:  Senior Engineer - Customer Adaptation

UD Trucks India is seeking a skilled and experienced Customer Adaptation Engineer to join our Technology Organization. As part of the Front Office and Application Engineering team, this role focuses on delivering customized technical solutions tailored to specific customer requirements, supporting UD Trucks' mission to provide market-relevant features globally.

The role involves managing engineering activities related to customer-specific adaptations, coordinating across cross-functional teams, and ensuring the technical feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and timely implementation of customer adaptation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and develop technical solutions for customer-specific adaptations requested by the sales organization.
• Collaborate with internal teams including CA-Operations, Product Development, Sales Strategy, Purchasing, and Legal, as well as external partners and bodybuilders, to assess feasibility and deliver solutions.
• Prepare cost and lead-time estimates using product knowledge and engineering judgment.
• Create conceptual designs and confirm sourcing of external parts where required.
• Issue product design change notices to integrate new adaptation options into the product structure.
• Provide sales and business development teams with technical input and variant information during the quotation process.
• Support the transformation of high-frequency adaptation variants into standardized offerings.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and variant descriptions for adaptation requests.
• Ensure timely release of orders and quotes in line with KPIs.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering; or equivalent experience in truck adaptation design.
• Experience in heavy commercial vehicles or related automotive industry.
• Solid understanding of vehicle specifications, complete vehicle systems, and customer application requirements.
• Strong knowledge of adaptation processes and truck industry standards and regulations.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes to assess production impact of adaptations.
• Proficient in CAD tools (AutoCAD, Creo) and engineering systems (OM/CAQ, KAX, KOLA).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Effective communication skills - verbal and written - with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
• Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and providing technical support to external bodybuilders
