INTRODUCTION:
Within UD Trucks Technology, Cab Engineering, we are looking for a Engineer/Senior Engineer-CAB Exteriors.
Cab Exteriors is a part of Cab Engineering team within Vehicle Engineering, responsible for developing Systems and Components. It is primarily responsible for design and development of components such as Direct/Indirect vision related components such as Mirrors (ORVM/IRVM), Mirror Arm, Wiper systems. Also working knowledge on Mechanisms, Exterior Plastics, Sheetmetal parts & Lamps (Lightings).

We are now looking for a Engineer/Senior Engineer- CAB Exteriors to take global responsibilities and participate in company-wide plastic technology evolution to align technology needs of all internal truck brands.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for end-to-end development of products / parts and release of the solutions into the system with complete product ownership and solve field quality issues effectively
Performs design, testing/validation and/or development projects within area of assignment to fulfil the project & Product Quality, Delivery, Cost, Feature targets & report the same in project forums.
Design, develop & verify CAB-Exterior Components in Cab Engineering for UD products (Direct/Indirect vision related components such as Mirrors (ORVM/IRVM), Mirror Arm, Wiper systems. Also working knowledge on Mechanisms, Exterior Plastics, Sheetmetal parts & Lamps (Lightings).
Design and Develop components in alignment with the cross functional team during product development phase & later in maintenance related to Cab Exteriors.
Responsible for maintenance of Cab Exterior area for UD products.
Support to create product roadmap for our UD Products along with feature leader.
Ability to drive innovation within the team and take up intellectual property initiatives in the team and independently
Capable to run thorough investigations to identify root cause analysis for failures and deliver a robust solution as a countermeasure to address customer issues
Do quality check of Engineering drawings, technical requirements, product structure and release them to production.
Develop components by closely cooperating with suppliers, purchasing, manufacturing, testing, aftermarket etc. both locally and globally.
Support to create Verification & Validation plan for Cab Exterior Components.
Responsible to meet the legal demands in Front Protection systems for different countries.
Follow up quality status, Quality cases and participate in design reviews; to work on root cause analysis, risk analysis and FMEAs.
Take part in supplier discussions, initiate and lead method / preparation meetings and be responsible for documentation of these.
Utilize existing engineering tools and methods / processes proficiently and to follow general and UD product development processes. Also, when relevant, develop new in-house tools in order to improve the engineering process.
Establish and maintain a global network within knowledge area.
Maintain an awareness of important technological developments both within and outside the concerned technology areas. Capture and reuse knowledge in specific technical area.
Identify and implement best practice engineering processes.

Qualifications

 REQUIREMENTS:

BE/B Tech/ME/M Tech in Mechanical or Equivalent Engineering with 6 to 12 years of experience in Automotive OEM.
Experience of designing & developing Mirrors (ORVM/IRVM), Mirror Arm, Wiper systems, Mechanisms, Exterior Plastics, Sheetmetal parts & Lamps(Lightings) knowledge for automotive applications.
Experience in master sections creation during concept stage considering all requirements.
Working knowledge in one CAD package, preferably UG NX/CATIA V5/ PTC CREO & PDM - Windchill
Experience of working with suppliers to lead the development activities with a good level of product development cycle understanding.
Possess sound knowledge in Problem solving techniques by effectively using Quality tools such as DFMEA, 8D/ FTA.
Knowledge about Commercial Vehicle regulations and Certification activities is preferred.
Manufacturing knowledge on tooling (Stamping/Vacuum forming/Thermo-forming, Injection Moulding, Die-cast) is preferred.
Basic understanding of sheet metal design and development is preferred.
Solid Hands-on experience in development of plastic parts & sheet metal component.
Should have knowledge of Plastic Components & Sheet metal parts manufacturing.
Should be good in compiling and presenting information verbally and in writing.
Should have knowledge of Global standards for different markets.
Innovative and creative mind-set to provide engineering solutions and concepts.
Should be enthusiastic to learn new technologies related to automotive and Truck systems and implement in relevant projects.
Knowledge on Pro-active and Re-active Quality Tools will be an advantage.
