Mission
To secure deliveries of Automobile Parts to the UD Trucks plants or users.

Reporting To: Manager, Supplier Delivery & Risk Management (SD&R) UD Trucks Purchasing
Language: Business level in Japanese & English
Location: Ageo, Japan UD Trucks Headquarter

 

A successful candidate has the below qualifications/traits

  • Bachelor’s degree or above (or similar/relevant work experience).
  • Engineering or/and business degrees are of advantage
  • Minimal 3-5 years of experience in purchasing and prefer in indirect purchasing
  • Experience in manufacturing-related work such as parts procurement, manufacturing technology, and plant quality assurance.
  • Experience in supplier selection processes
  • Experience in projects, preferably as Project Manager leading business and people
  • Proven good negotiation skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills in Japanese. English business proficiency is preferred.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, proactive and positive attitude with the owner’s mentality
  • Adaptability and agility to the changes around you
  • Knowledge on, or interest in testing and production equipment is a plus

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure parts supply to UD Trucks' plants and users.

 

Supply Chain Risk Management

  • Identify supply risks, mitigate risk, investigate impact to UD Trucks (Tool/Machine breakdown, manpower, force majeure [fire, flood, and natural disasters], raw material/component shortages)
  • Identify supplier-specific supply issues and implement improvement activities.
  • Conduct capacity surveys and audits.
  • Assess supply-chain/BCP risks at supplier selection process
  • Summarize and report on parts supply risks escalated by various departments within the company.
  • Communicate production plans and market demand trends to suppliers.

 

Crisis Management

  • Support the resolution of emergency supply issues (lead case or support buyers with expertise in manufacturing, production management, and logistics (transportation), and act as a liaison with the operations department as needed).
  • Ensure live visit at suppliers when necessary
  • Investigate and visit suppliers to assess the impact of disasters (earthquakes, floods, other conflicts).

  • Based on UD Trucks' governance process, SD&R has the authority to act to fulfill the above tasks and responsibilities.
